This very special weekend of the centenary of the first Appearance of Our Lady at Fatima, sees some wonderful spiritual celebrations taking place in Scotland and in the Diocese of Motherwell and the Archdiocese of Glasgow, and continuing on to next weekend.

Beginning at 8pm tomorrow evening, Friday 12th May, there will be an all-night Vigil of Adoration at Saint Andrew’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Clyde Street, Glasgow.

The Vigil will commence with Holy Mass and enrolment with the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, followed by an Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and then Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

After a short break, there will be reflections on the writings and spirituality of Saint Louis Marie de Montfort, author of ‘The Secret Of The Rosary’ and ‘True Devotion To Mary’, as well as many other works and Marian hymns.

Then there will be a Holy Hour, followed by the Stations of the Cross at midnight.

The Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed at regular intervals during the night, and the Vigil will then conclude with Mass at 6am, in honour of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

On Saturday 13th May, at 1pm at the National Shrine to Our Lady at Carfin Grotto, Mass will be celebrated in honour of the Canonisations of our two new Saints, Jacinta and Francisco Marto.

This will be followed by a Rosary procession to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in the grounds of the Grotto, just along from the Glass Chapel.

Also on Saturday 13th May, at 1pm in Saint Andrew’s Cathedral, Glasgow, Archbishop Tartaglia will welcome the statue of Our Lady of Fatima and then celebrate Mass.

In the evening of 13th May, at Carfin Grotto, Confessions will be available from 6:30pm until 7:15pm, followed at 7:30pm by a torchlight procession beginning at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima.

Mass will then take be offered by Bishop Keenan of the Diocese of Paisley, in honour of the centenary of the Appearances of Our Lady at Fatima.

Finally, in the Diocese of Motherwell, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Good Aid, Coursington Road, Motherwell, a special Mass will take place on Saturday 20th May at 10am, celebrated by Bishop Toal.

The Bishop will welcome into the Diocese the statue of Our Lady of Fatima which is currently touring Scotland, and he will consecrate the Diocese of Motherwell to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, an act which is certain to draw down great graces on the Bishop, clergy, religious and people of the Diocese. The Blessed Virgin is never outdone in generosity.

This is a very special weekend in the life of the Church not only in Scotland and it’s Dioceses, but across the world – if you can join the faithful at any of these special celebrations, please feel free to do so.
